Light Paintings

I had my first 3 day Ayahuasca and San Pedro ceremony in New York City in 2016. A few days later I flew back to Florida and started painting. It was the only way I knew at the time to transcribe the reality shattering experiences that I had just gone through. Ascention: The Stone

2016
30″ x 40″ acrylic on canvas, framed
unminted

Inspired by two very specific visions, this piece came through during a dark period of my life. In alchemy, the philosopher’s Stone is a legendary substance that can turn base metals into gold, or more metaphysically – suffering into transcendence.

The eye – throughout many cultures – has symbolized some form of vision or “spiritual truth.” Here it is used as the center point of all that we experience. Temples as tears, falling upon timeless imagery, of patterns seen represented for thousands of years in art and culture, grounded again by roots into the fire of existence itself.

The eye / philosopher’s stone is assisted on the right by a being that forms the second part of my vision, a higher interdimensional intelligence. Resembling the Eye of Providence, though in its more extraterrestrial form, it connects that which we see and feel to visions of technology below, the same technology that helped create this painting, that drove you here, and that lives all around us. And at the same time, this intelligence is inseparable from us.

We are but a step on the ladder of infinite intelligence. We are at once the base metal and the gold, oscillating through time. We are here to turn ourselves into light.

Ascention: The Seed

2016
30″ x 40″ acrylic on canvas, framed
unminted

The Seed is a visual representation of the pineal gland, described by Descartes as the “principal seat of the soul.” Often referred to as “the third eye” it is buried deep in the center part of our brain and is responsible for all our feelings and emotions.

When you are looking at this painting, it is this Seed within you that is causing everything you feel about the painting. In a way, this piece is a mirror without glass.

Mirrored here are also the deep-rooted archetypes of the feminine and masculine within you. Across the middle you have the heart, permeating time and space with every beat, the Seed, that roots us to reality (which is supported by and created by the four elements underneath – fire, water, earth, and air), and the light of the sun (divinity), which enables this all to take place.

The light of the sun shines down upon a singular image from my own life. The bliss of a single moment, experienced in Thailand, of seeing my beloved swinging on a swing above water (bottom right), a timeless moment. A seed of joy that lives here and now, independent of time and space.

Ascention: The Gate

2016
30″ x 40″ acrylic on canvas, framed
NFT on SuperRare

The Ascension series is meant to bridge the gap between matter and form (the Earth-bound) and the divine. Like a series of musical notes, the strokes and shapes are meant to to evoke a certain level of being here on earth and remembering the collective past of humanity we all share.

Forming here on earth, as ever changing strands of DNA, we experience creation through our own being. Like a series of telegraph tones, we bring into existence all that we know and can imagine through a co-creative process with elements that have been on this planet for eons.

The heart – the Gate of our being – resonates and takes in this “music of the world” and helps us shape the experiences we all feel. It is at the center of the infinite dance that we’re all a part of. Through the heart we experience light, we experience the joy of music, and all the beauty that exists when we are open to the flow of the universe.

Like a vine growing upwards, we reach for this light, for moments of beauty, which can only be described as transcendent, when we are still enough to be in the present moment. This painting is a reminder to be still so you can hear all that ever was, is, and will ever be.
